Stern Pinball Finally Teases Fallout

Stern Pinball Finally Teases Fallout

Okay, Stern. You have our attention.

Just when it seemed like we were going to make it through the week without another major pinball announcement, Stern Pinball dropped a short teaser for its next Cornerstone title, and the rumors were right.

Fallout is coming to pinball.

The 30 second teaser doesn't give us a whole lot to work with, but it officially confirms that Stern's next machine will be based on the Fallout franchise. Of course, the timing couldn't be better. The video games have had a massive following for years, and the Amazon Prime series introduced the world of Fallout to an entirely new audience.

If you've been following the rumors, this one has been building for a while.

The Rumors Were Right

The biggest name attached to the project is Keith Elwin and his team, who are reportedly behind the design. That alone has gotten plenty of people excited. Elwin has developed a pretty strong following in the pinball community, so expectations for this machine are already pretty high.

Then came yesterday's dealer preview.

We haven't seen the game ourselves yet, so obviously we're going to hold off on making any final judgments. But the early reactions coming from dealers who were there have been incredibly positive. The word being thrown around is that the game is absolutely packed with stuff.

That's a pretty good sign.

And honestly, Fallout is one of those licenses that feels almost made for pinball. There are vaults, characters, creatures, weapons, locations, factions and plenty of weird post-apocalyptic moments that could translate into some seriously fun toys and rules.

Thursday Can't Come Soon Enough

Thankfully, we don't have to wait very long to find out what Stern has been cooking.

The company has announced that the full reveal will take place Thursday, September 3rd.

Stern also gave us another small glimpse of the game with a second teaser featuring what appears to be a Pip-Boy sculpt and screen built into the playfield. It's only a quick look, but it's the first real indication of how Stern is bringing the Fallout world into the physical game.

There's another exciting detail too. Fallout will make its first public appearance at PAX West in Seattle from September 4th through September 7th.

So if everything goes according to plan, we'll be seeing this machine in action almost immediately after the reveal.

The teaser closes with two simple lines:

"Are you prepared for the future?"

"Your new life begins soon."

Well, Stern, I think I speak for a lot of us when I say we're ready.

Now we just need to see the rest of the machine.

If the early dealer reactions are anything to go by, Stern may have something pretty special on its hands. Thursday can't get here soon enough.
